Former Syracuse star Carmelo Anthony has reportedly joined NBC as one of its in-studio analysts, according to The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand. NBC will begin broadcasting NBA games next season after becoming partners under the league’s new 11-year, $76 billion broadcast deal alongside ESPN/ABC and Amazon Prime Video.

Anthony helped lead Syracuse to win the 2003 National Championship, the program’s lone title, while averaging 22.2 points and 10 rebounds per game as a freshman. He then embarked on a 19-year NBA career, most notably playing for the Denver Nuggets — who drafted him No. 3 overall in 2003 — and the New York Knicks. He retired as the NBA’s ninth all-time leading scorer.

As of now, Anthony is NBC’s only studio member announced. Per Marchand, Maria Taylor, NBC’s NFL and college football host, is being considered for the pregame show. Syracuse 1988 graduate Mike Tirico is set to be NBC’s lead play-by-play broadcaster, while 2019 graduate Noah Eagle will also broadcast games.
