Emma Polaski recorded five points this week.
Sophomore Emma Polaski (1 goal, 4 assists) and freshman Abby Moloughney (3 goals, 2 assists) earned the College Hockey America Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week awards, respectively. It was the second time each of them won the award this season for Syracuse (10-19-3, 10-6-2 CHA).
On Friday night against Lindenwood, Moloughney sealed the Orange’s 5-4 comeback with a game-winning penalty shot. Earlier in that game, Moloughney assisted on Polaski’s team-leading 11th goal, a third period equalizer.
“I think now we’re getting close to the end of the season, our team is really coming together,” Moloughney said after Friday’s game. “There’s a lot of chemistry going on, and when we get low, we’re able to bounce off each other, even defense and the forwards.”
The next day, Polaski notched two helpers and Moloughney scored twice in a 5-1 victory. SU has won all four matchups against the Lions this year. After last weekend, Polaski is tied for second in goals scored during conference play.
Though Lauren Bellefontaine has won CHA Rookie of the Month three times, Moloughney leads SU freshmen in goals (8) and is tied with Bellefontaine in assists (10).
SU is currently tied for second place in the CHA standings with 22 points, three points behind first place Robert Morris. Syracuse has one more weekend series — in Moon Township, Pennsylvania, against RMU — before the CHA Tournament begins.
